Abstract

Authors' conclusions:central venous pressure (CVP) should not be used to make clinical decisions regarding fluid management.

Reviewers' comantary: even though there is a poor relationship between CVP and both blood volume and the hemodynamic response to a fluid challenge, we suggest to keep considering the CVP an useful clinical parameter in fluid management.
