Abstract

Authors' conclusions: physical therapy reduces the prevalence of deformational plagiocephaly in children with positional preference.

Reviewers' comantary: this is the first randomized controlled trial on the effectiveness of physical therapy for children with deformational plagiocephaly, assessed through a new diagnostic method (plagiocephalometry). Although group assignment was not kept concealed properly, trial’s results show that, the implementation of a systematic program in experienced hands seems to be a more reliable method than the usual medical advice about positional habits.
